Montacute Parkrun on mass this week; with 10 of us taking part. This reflected the huge overall turnout at Montacute, with 381 runners, as well as high numbers for Parkrun nationally. This week was the 13th anniverary since the very first Parkrun. The first being at Bushey Park, where only 13 runners took part. Bushey now has an average of 1,300 runners each week.

At Montacute, Jack and Mark were our star performers. Jack knocked another 16 seconds off his PB, hopefully heading for a sub 21 soon? Mark timed his PB to perfection with a vital one second off his previous best! Lots of Parkrun apricot and milestone T-shirts were worn.

From the results, I'm guessing Sue and Liz were running (& chatting??) together this week and Maggie was also taking it easier than usual. I see why now - Mark has sent me a photo of Maggie and their 7 year old niece Catherine running towards the finish funnel. This was Catherine's first run. It looks like she was having fun with her Aunty. It was nice to see Amanda and her daughter Sam back again.

James was our sole tourist at Burnham & Highbridge.

Longrun were celebrating their 4th Birthday. Their theme was 'Fruit & Flowers' - some fun photos on their Facebook page. A photo of some bananas below (especially for Julie).

For those keen for a 5k run on Christmas Day or New Year's Day, Parkrun have collated tables to show which Parkruns will be running these extra events. Not all venues have decided yet, so these tables will be updated when each club declares. We know that Shepton Mallet are organising a New Year Day one, but this isn't yet showing on the central table. So keep looking to see if there is a Parkrun near whereever you are celebrating Christmas or New Year.
