With Ham Hill cancelled due to "a waterlogged course and grotty weather", there was some Parkrun tourism this week. Colin became a 'First Timer' at Exmouth and Dennis a 'First Timer' at Shepton Mallet. Despite wet conditions, both Katy and Grahame were seconds off new PBs and Grahame topped our percentage table.
Who will be the first Langport Runner tor ring Longrun's new PB bell?
On our way to Solihull Brueton Parkrun, Nick and I weren't surprised to read "Standing water on ice Patches, too risky" on Brueton's Facebook page. A number of people headed the 6 miles to Cannon Hill Parkrun. Being such a horribly wet, wintery morning, we weren't convinced that Cannon Hill wouldn't also cancel, so we ran our own 5k route around nearby Dorridge park. This also had icy patches and we fully appreciated why Brueton had to cancel.
Please note Shepton Mallet have asked "If runners could try and stay on the tarmac as much as possible at all times before, during and after the event. At this time of year the grass is sodden and we don't want to have to tape more of the course as 7.30 to 7.45 is early enough for set up as it is. We want the town council as friends!"
