The bad weather is definitely taking its toll locally with the course at Montacute still water logged and Longrun Meadow is beginning to resemble a tough mudder course. Therefore, turnout was rather poor this week (no doubt put off by the bad weather forecast). I attended Burnham’s parkrun this week along with Kate and we enjoyed a downpour of biblical proportions! It was some of the heaviest rain the parkrun had ever seen at Burnham. It was Kate’s first parkrun in Langport colours and her 4th in total! She had a super run and recorded a 5k PB. Also recording a 5k PB was Wendy Driver. Well done Ladies! I was running my 40th parkrun this week but… my legs were feeling a little bit heavy… AND I was a little off the pace. Dennis also joined us in what was his 70th parkrun. Steve recorded his 80th parkrun at Exmouth and had a super run. (According to Steve) This is a real PB potential course.

Although nobody from our club was running at Shepton Mallet, according to their website, there was an unfortunate incident in that “a gentleman walking with his young child and dog in the park was told to get out of the way and sworn at by a parkrunner.” This is a real shame and definitely not in the spirit of a parkrun. Let us be reminded it is not a race, but a timed run.

At the time of writing, Montacute have not confirmed when their parkrun will resume.
