It was a lovely autumnal morning this week enough to drive me out of bed despite what turned out to be the start of a heavy cold! In case you were not aware it was the 15th anniversary of the first parkrun at Bushy park! Guest of honour was David Moorcroft OBE a former 5000m record holder. The founder of parkrun Paul Sinton-Hewitt also ran at Bushy park on his 447th run! (He is pretty quick too) oh and just 1838 turned up for the run!
Hazel on her 42nd run was there with her doggie companion Roscoe (3rd run). Roscoe was a little excited at the start as he thinks everybody needs to stroke him, but settled down after a mile for a decent run. Ali and Steve were there as a pre warm up to their longer Sunday races. Liz, Sue and Grahame enjoyed their runs at Montacute and occupied the top 3 positions. Amanda P takes the plaudits this week as she set a PB on her 25th run here.
On Saturday 26th October it will be the Hallowe’en Special run with full fancy dress required. The course will be run in reverse as the clocks are going back an hour. Once again if you are going to Montacute get there early as the queue for parking is considerable at 8.50! There is also going to be a New Year’s Day run at 10.30 at Yeovil Country Park.
Just Paul P and Dave G here this week. Paul had a gentle one by his standards, no doubt saving the legs for Cardiff half on Sunday and Dave narrowly missed out on a sub 40 run.
Richard was the best of the bunch here as he just snuck into the 60% age grade this week with a sub 25 min run, Maggie had a steady run and Martin (must have had a jog around).
Gavin S was over at Burnham for to enjoy the calm conditions. If you are driving over here do allow extra time for parking as the overflow car is out of use.
Nick and Rox were over in Cardiff for the weekend, as they took part in the half marathon on Sunday, so ofcourse decieded to try out the parkrun at Bute Park, which is a busy one over 700 runners but is nice and close to the City Centre.
And Finally Amanda B was at Eden Project parkrun, if you do this one they let you in for free (so I am told)!
