Nice to see a little parkrun tourism this week with Paul and Cathy at Tamar Trails in Devon which is an Area of Outstanding of Natural Beauty and part of Cornwall & West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Marie was at Babbs Mill for only her 5th parkrun. The course is on a Local Nature Reserve at Kinghurst near Solihul. Marie (3rd in the table) recorded a very impressive time of just over 24 minutes and was the third lady home! (Husband and son also had good runs).
No PB this week but some very consistent running with the majority of our runners recording an age grade score of 50% or better. Some notable performances were the evergreen Dave G nearly getting under 39 minutes at Longrun Meadow. Hazel was close to a sub 24 minute run at Montacute, Roscoe is pacing well. Liz was the clear outstanding performer this week with a very impressive grade score of 73%. There were a few issues with timings at Longrun Meadow on Saturday morning. Roxane recorded a time of 30:20 (her fasted for a longtime) but was given a parkrun time off 33:29 after a few hours they annouced that the times for the runners placed between 150 to 250 have not been recorded correctly and there was nothing they could do about it. These things happen I was at Burnham last year when everyone was recorded a time of 59:59 because of a mistake by a voluntunteer!
Hallowe’en and a Reverse Run at Montacute
This Saturday will see the annual reverse run around the course to mark the clocks going back on Saturday night – so you’ll be running to the top of Avenue, back down through the trees and then out to the right and down the Hill! You will also be encouraged to where spooky costumes! Street will be encouraging spooky costumes on 2 November and this week to coincide with the fall back of the clocks to GMT next weekend, parkrun invite you to run or volunteer in your pyjames!
The evergreen Dave German
