Hats off to all the 6 Langport Runners who made it to a parkrun on Saturday morning on a cold winters morning in England. A grudging well done to Nick, Rox and Ed who were in a more convivial climate!
Despite the cold weather there were some excellent performances and it is always nice to see some PB in our table. Grahame our only runner at Longrun Meadow shaved 3 seconds of his course PB.
Our Monty runners did very well this weekend. Kyle came 2nd and that is the second time he has done that. Surely a win is just around the corner. One of our new members Nigel also recorded a PB on his 4th parkrun outing as did Celia. Amanda completed her 99th parkrun, I can almost smell the cake!
Roxane and her clan were at Puarenga parkrun Rotorua NZ (well Jel). Rox goes on to say:
“The three of us did make a parkrun this morning. Only Ed’s 2nd ever. It was along sulphur tracks in a geothermal area. (The two photos attached were taken on the route - gave me a breather!) Quite impressive landscape. The run (& city) has a very pungent sulphur smell - a mixture of rotten eggs and perming solution! Another hot one too.
Similar numbers to last week, Nick and I came in at similar positions. Ed narrowly missed Sub 21, impressively coming in third. He hasn’t run since he started his world Unicycle trip, but the cycling not surprisingly keeps him fit.
I ran with a New Zealand lady who was just back from living in Exeter for a year - she recognised I was from Somerset by my Langport runners vest.”
