A few more of us came out Parkrunning last Saturday than in recent weeks. Even though, by the looks of the photos, the weather was fairly misty and unwelcoming everywhere. Still very wet under foot too. This meant still no return of Montacute Parkrun. It also lead to a change of route at Longrun which Nick and I felt it was an improvement to the usual course. Starting the run further back seemed much less of a bottle neck, while runners spread out, and no woodchip/soggy stretch at the far end of the course. This area was extremely waterlogged, deemed impassable, and so we were diverted right and ran 2 shorter laps plus an even shorter third lap. It was spot on 5k, always a challenge when changing the course last minute. Perhaps we also enjoyed the new route as we both ran a better time on this course for a while; not quite PBs though.
Mike and Hazel were the ones to ring the PB bell at Shepton Mallet, Hazel's mum ran also. Hazel knocked a huge 1 minute 31 seconds off her previous best, her second run at Shepton, Mike looked pleased with achieving 18 seconds quicker on his 5th run here.
Mark and Maggie made their first appearance at Burnham; old hand Dave, his 15th.
On the other side of the world, Sarah went a little further afield for her second Parkrun. She ran at East Reynalla, South Australia. On her Facebook posting, Sarah mentioned it was a wet and windy run, not so different from Somerset then! She came 20th in a small field of 37, and first in her age category. Good work.
