A good Parkrun turn out this weekend with 15 runners at 4 different local(ish) events.
Liz tops our table again with her speedy run at Montacute.
Three PBs: it has taken Mike 14 runs to beat his original time at Street. He knocked 11 seconds off to achieve this PB and rang
the Street PB bell. Over at Montacute, young Isabel ran with David and also gained a PB; and Gavin ran Burnham for the 4th time,
each time achieving a shiny new PB.
Dave G was back running nearer his aim of 40 minutes. Richard and Grahame tried new Parkruns, Minehead and Burnham respectively.
Jemma was out again at Longrun.
Work on the course at Longrun means there is no longer a muddy section. They also had their highest ever attendance of 529 on what
was their NHS take over day; with staff from the NHS both volunteering and running the course. They only have 500 position tokens and
so the team had to hastily learn how to use the Parkrun app to process the final 29 runners.
Over at Street, they announced their "Barkrun" on Saturday 17th August:
"For one week only.....and with thanks to Crispin School for allowing it.....Street parkrun becomes Street barkrun!
Dogs welcome! (But please, please bring plenty of poo bags, don't let your dogs off the leads, and pick up after them or we won't get to do another one)."
Request from Shepton Mallet:
"Food appeal -10th August - Help the Homeless Bus.
Last time we asked we had an amazing response to our plea for help. Today Edric and Caroline met up with Starr Murray to catch up with this amazing
project. He has worked so hard and is now regularly stopping off and feeding people who have for whatever reason lost their home. Starr could do with
replenishing his food stores. He has said that tinned food is best as it stores well. The best things are foods that are to all intents and purposes a whole
meal like beans, spaghetti, soup, stew rather than an ingredient. Cleaning products like shower gels and paste are always useful. Please could you see
what you can do to help desperate people. Thank you in advance."
And at Weymouth, they are asking for people to start volunteering for their pacing event on 31st August. If you would like to pace between 17 and 40
minutes, add your name here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18cA_gqBFYw8EWKpSGnnuAu8PyflZyJIaNEX86q-2NFM/edit?fbclid=IwAR1xuvPyXMH8uKTKk53f3Gp_PyFfNp9VT1bl9IUHiJSmdW2Ue9lqgniLnO4#gid=523798298
