Parkrun Report Saturday 15th February 2020 by Rox

Pos Parkrunner Time Cat Grade Gender Pos Note Runs Parkrun
72 Paul PARMENTER 24:37 VM50-54 61.41% 67/199 PB stays at 23:23 78 Burnham
170 Cathy PARMENTER 29:15 VW50-54 58.75% 31/113 PB stays at 28:37 76 Burnham
131 Richard GANDY 27:18 VM50-54 54.88% 112/199 PB stays at 24:47 59 Burnham
129 Michael NORTON 27:15 VM45-49 53.27% 110/199 PB stays at 23:05 108 Burnham

I'm guessing this is our smallest parkrun table ever?

Storm Dennis meant that 171 of the usual 600ish UK parkruns were cancelled this weekend. The list included many of our local ones. The reason Lands' End parkrun gave made me smile "Good chance of getting blown away!"

Paul, Cathy, Richard and Michael were our parkrun stoics who braved Burnham. Paul tops out table, sneaking into over 60%. Cathy wasn't too far off her PB and 31st lady out of 117. Impressive running given the weather conditions. There were a total of 331 runners.

Mike reports that "the course record holder, Adam Holland, was at Burnham but was soundly beaten by a young lad who ran the 7th fastest parkrun of the week (15:48). Hannah Taunton was first lady and ran impressively too (17:52). Conditions as you can imagine were challenging. We were hit with torrential rain on the way out which eased off but then of course we ran back into a strong head wind."

Hopefully, conditions will be calmer next week with fallen trees cleared and flooding receded and there will be more choices of where to parkrun. Clevedon have their pacer week or why not try Street, now they have tarmaced the strip which joins their two fields.

Good news on the parkrun report writing front. Mike and I welcome Amanda B and Jean. From March, the four of us will write one report a month. This will lighten the load for Mike and I, and it should also freshen up the content of the reports and give a bit more variety for the reader. Thank you Amanda and Jean for volunteering. Much appreciated 😁
