The sun shone, the skies were cloudless, and everyone got round safely in the club’s flagship event the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k.
There has been some very positive feedback from runners regarding the organisation of the event and the enthusiasm of marshals and helpers, all of which combined to make the event a great success and one we can all be proud of. Hats off to all including Race Director Mel Munday:

I just wanted to personally say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved in Sunday’s successful club 10k. Those of you who were there helping on the day and those who contributed in some way over the last few months of planning. It simply would not have been possible without all of us pulling together as it was a big task with some extra covid and cost hurdles along the way.
We have had some great feedback and if you would like to give any feedback it would be welcomed. We haven’t totted up the figures yet but my (big) worries about trying to break even due to increased costs are hopefully unfounded! A really good turn out of runners and the weather helped I’m sure.

An extra big thank you to some key people: Anne Kelly who organised all of the volunteers whilst keeping me calm when plans changed (both no easy job!), John Howard who did all of the technical stuff including the entries alongside Jim at DB MAX and answering numerous entry queries in the weeks leading up to the event. And also for rushing about doing whatever was needed on the day!

Thank you to Maggie for sorting the all important portaloos and sourcing the medals that our own Bill Farmer designed (based on the Langport Town Hall clock). To those of you who stayed around clearing away afterwards it was really very much appreciated. Finally to Pete Porter who has, as always been a rock, turning up to help me with whatever was needed on any given day with a smile on his face. Thank you.
