I knew what to expect with this race, as this was my first ever trail race last year and I suspect one of the toughest 10k races in the County.  This is race No. 7 in the Somerset Series and is a scenic, undulating ( I would call it hilly), predominantly off road 10k on Private Land, with total elevation of 297 metres!  The Waddle is organised by Chard road Runners is a  mixture of terrain with some lovely views.  It also includes three water crossings.  The conditions were great as overnight rain had softened the ground and added a little mud!

Kyle, Sue, Steve were also back for more punishment from last year along with Sam (taking a rare off road excursion!)  Kyle came 3rd  last year and despite a ‘hammy’ niggle was quicker by 2 minutes but that was only good enough for 7th place  as there was a strong field of runners this year.  Wayne Loveridge who won last year came third.  Sam came home in 23rd position and enjoyed his run too.   I knocked over 3 minutes off last years’ time so I was more than happy with that.  Nikkii Small marshalled and provided plenty of vocal support to everyone.  We then adjourned to the Pub for much needed refreshments provided by our Chairman!
